The GSG helps to organize and sponsors a number of events for graduate students and other members of the Princeton Community.  Please see the information below on some of our current events, including:

GSG Pub Night

Pub Nights are usually held at the Dbar on the second Wednesday of every month, from 8-10 pm after our monthly Assembly meetings.  Drink specials and appetizers are available.

Interdepartmental Mixers

The Graduate Student Government Events Board also sponsors social mixers between just two departments. Find out more here.

Graduate Writing Days

Graduate Writing Days provides a quiet space for grad students to work on their writing, whether that be a dissertation, a book chapter, a grant proposal, or an article.  Writing Days offers a generous spread of breakfast food, plenty of caffeine (coffee and tea), and a quiet place to sit and work alongside fellow grad students.

Graduate Writing Days meets Mondays 9AM-12PM in Campus Club.  Please subscribe to the listserv to sign up, as space is limited.  Feel free to contact GSG academic affairs chair Kate Pukhovaia ( if you have any questions.

GSG Furniture Drive

The annual GSG Furniture Drive takes place each year in June immediately following Commencement. The GSG Furniture Drive helps to recycle used furniture and other goods within the graduate student community at Princeton. It also provides an opportunity for members of the Princeton University community to help local charities by donating gently-used furniture, clothing, and other household items from graduating undergraduates.

Please note: unfortunately, the GSG cannot provide transportation to bring donated items to the drop-off sites, nor are we able to assist in the transportation of items from the furniture drive to an apartment or dormitory.

This annual event is organized by the GSG but relies on graduate student volunteers and a paid graduate student coordinator. Volunteers work a one-hour shift (at a minimum) manning tents and helping visitors drop off or pick up items. No heavy lifting necessary. This is a great opportunity to help recycle furniture and clothing donated by graduating seniors. Also, as a volunteer, you get first dibs on items! If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact the GSG at
